Agri-food exporter enters the Chinese market
A Spanish food company secures its first registered imports in China after 6 months of structured work.
The challenge
A Spanish company with over 30 years in the agri-food sector wanted to diversify its exports towards Asia, specifically China. They had no experience in the Chinese market, were unfamiliar with product registration requirements and had no trusted local contacts.
What we did together
We developed a market entry strategy for China that included:
- Analysis of regulatory and registration requirements for their product category
- Identification of importers and distributors specialised in the premium HORECA channel
- Preparation of materials adapted to the Chinese market (company presentation, technical sheets)
- Management of initial conversations and negotiations with local intermediaries
- Assistance with the terms of the first pilot order
Results
6 months after project start, the company received its first confirmed order of €180,000 through an importer specialised in European gourmet products, with open discussions for an annual framework contract.
